As December is half over and the new year closing in fast, I thought I's pen a few predictions for the upcoming year.

Please feel free to add your own for the reading enjoyment of our shooting brethren and sisters.

    Merry Christmas to all:

    • The Cardinal Classic will have more shooters than the Grand American

    • Vendors will boycott the Grand @ Sparta

    • The ATA Hall of Fame will not move to Sparta or any other place

    • A new Eastern American Trapshooting Organization will begin, headquartered in Marengo, OH or Elysburg, PA.

    • New “Category Declaration Rule” will be rescinded

    • The present Handicap System will not be changed

    • Eastern Zone permanently moved to Elysburg

    • The EC will still do nothing to improve the game

    • Thurmont to be the new Mecca for MD trapshooting

    • Price of a bag (25#) of shot will be $50.00 by mid-summer

    • Price of primers will increase 50% by mid-summer and will be scarce

    • Gas will average $3.50 a gallon by mid-summer

    • Bad shooters will remain bad

    • Good shooters will stay good

    • Gripers and Whiners will still gripe & whine

I don't know about the Super Bowl, but how about Bama, TCU, Fl., Oregon, and Georgia Tech?

I also don't know about Extreme Chokes as in the Jan./Feb. '10 issue of Trap Shooting USA and 98% patterns @ 70 yds. with 1 oz. 7 1/2's with a .030 choke?????????

I hope Primers don't double again. There must be a way to reload them I have thousands upon thousands only once fired primers they should be good for a few reloads at the price they are now! 32 thousand
    Don't you think?

Oh yeah I predict Obama will win the Masters I heard he played golf once or atleast wanted to.

The Chevy Volt, will surpass the Edsel as the biggest financial bomb of a car. It only will take 20 years to break even at a cost of 40K, Ahmindinajad will see the light real soon, very similar to the light in the movie "Empire of the Sun", Washington DC will become a suburb of Chicago after a 3 trillion dollar direct stimulas rail link is built by a Chinese contractor who under-bid Mexico.

Curt... Here is all I have to say about your predictions:

    • The Cardinal Classic will have more shooters than the Grand American
(I agree, I think you're correct on this one)

    • Vendors will boycott the Grand @ Sparta
(Possibly, unless some major changes are made to benefit their attendance)

    • The ATA Hall of Fame will not move to Sparta or any other place
(I agree with this, as well. It will take the ATA several years to move it, if at all)

    • A new Eastern American Trapshooting Organization will begin, headquartered in Marengo, OH or Elysburg, PA.
(I dis-agree. Someone has to take the lead in starting this, and no one, to date, has stepped up to the plate to do so. In any case, it will take a couple years to get a new organization rolling unless it is the PITA)

    • New “Category Declaration Rule” will be rescinded
(I disagree. You know how the ATA hates to change their minds about ANYTHING)

    • The present Handicap System will not be changed
(You are 100% absolutely right about this one! The single, most instrumental thing that could be done to help trapshooting survive will go unchanged)

    • Eastern Zone permanently moved to Elysburg
    (Very possible)

    • The EC will still do nothing to improve the game
(Same answer as the one about changing the handicap system!)

    • Thurmont to be the new Mecca for MD trapshooting
(Have no clue one way or the other)

    • Price of a bag (25#) of shot will be $50.00 by mid-summer
(I disagree. I think it will stay just about where it is right now, possibly even lower)

    • Price of primers will increase 50% by mid-summer and will be scarce
    (Same answer as above)

    • Gas will average $3.50 a gallon by mid-summer
    (I agree)

    • Bad shooters will remain bad
(I disagree. Several bad shooters will find their way and become better as the year progresses)

    • Good shooters will stay good
    (I agree)

    • Gripers and Whiners will still gripe & whine
(Yes, but, even more so in 2010 because nothing changed in 2009)

I would like to add a couple predictions of my own, since we are just playing:

    1) The PITA will expand into several more states and throw more registered PITA targets.

    2) The membership in the PITA will grow by at least 10%.

    3) High end trap guns will decline in value by as much as 25%.

    4) The rush to "higher ribbed" trap guns will decline, if not vanish.

    5) 5% of all the smaller clubs in America will have to close due to either enviromental problems, or financial problems.

    6) The cost to shoot trap will rise even higher.

    7) At least 2 more "Hot Dogs" will start to offer clinics.

    8) There will be more world class shooters on the circuit than ever before.

These are just a few of mine for your consideration..... Dan Thome (Trap2)
