    My House Stink

Ok about 20 minutes ago I was getting a teribble smell coming from underneath the house I guess I should had sealed off the holes that I drilled for the cable wires.

Well I went to investigate and when I opened the door this creature came running in.

    <a href="http://s29.photobucket.com/albums/c265/gdarnell/animals/cats/?action=view&current=09-05-09011.jpg" target="_blank">[IMG]</a>

Ok it's not my cat but I call it Crazy Cat so I guess she must had of Pissed of a Skunk named Pepe Le Pew!

    <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/JEdBndu0YUM&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/JEdBndu0YUM&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Anyway I think my inherited neighborhood dog got caught in the middle of it all she is part lab and Chow but she is a lot better friend than the Crazy Cat.

The stinker..... heavens no.......The stink.......won't do any good to blame the skunk. It's the odor that needs attended to.....A discrete amount of "HE", strategically placed around the offending odor should do the trick......RDX even leaves a nice fresh odor behind.

A washdown with tomato juice will remove the stink from the dog and cat, but i don't know what to do about the stink coming from under the house. Good luck.

after awhile you will get used to it. I mean you got used to that "Skunk" gun of yours didn't you.

This sounds like a perfect match to me.

If the skunk is under your house, that's the cure - trap the skunk and seal up the access point(s). Use plenty of room freshner/Lysol spray and plug up the holes...

Off the dog tomato juice. Wash the dog or animal with tomato juice. As for the house, time and only time.

Skunks are always after insects. Use a peck of hedge apples aka osage oranges. Just spread them around the inside of the crawlspace. The fumes that come off this fruit as it decays will keep insects out of the crawlspace and you should also seal the holes to prevent future visits from the smelly ones. Dan

After some hands-on experience with a skunk, I called a vet to see how to get rid of the stink from my very unhappy dog.

The vet said the only thing you'll get from washing a dog with tomato juice is a pink dog. Use a gallon of warm water, a bottle of hydrogen peroxide, 1/4 cup of baking soda, and a teaspoon or two of dish soap. Do not use baking powder, and absolutely DO NOT use washing soda, which will cause burns. Just Arm & Hammer baking soda.

The article in the link uses stronger proportions than my vet gave me, but the one I mentioned worked just fine. Combine the ingredients at the time of use. This solution works to remove skunk odor because of a chemical reaction initiated immediately upon combining the ingredients. If it sits for too long, it will become ineffective. It fizzes, so don't put it into a closed container, or the bottle will explode.

To prevent recurrence, make your dog watch Pepe Le Pew cartoons.

Kitty says the the odor is obviously from that lazy, stinky black dog that's laying in the driveway. He thinks that you should put that dog to sleep and your problems will go away.

Roho, moth balls will probably work, but don't leave them where your dog can get to them. I doubt that he would eat them, but you never know. What I would do is buy a few pairs of lady's nylons, cut them up, and use them to make golf-ball-sized tossers by filling and tying. Throw them under your house through those holes, and the skunk will leave.

Your house is going to smell like a skunk/old-lady combi for awhile. You might want to come live with Martin and me...LOL!!!

foggy, can of sardines and a live trap will get him from under the house. Don't even ask how you keep from getting sprayed when removing him. Ain't no good way other than a cap. If your in town use a CB minicap and heighbors won't hear. The smell under the house depending on what can be eliminated with same concoction as posted above for animals.

I dont know about the skunk smell but I am a true believer in lighting candles a couple times a week to keep our house smelling fresh and wonderful. It works in the garage when the trash starts to smell also. They work believe me

OK, there is a chemical that really works. It's called "What Odor". Billy Mayes was hawking it for awhile. I bought it direct from www.WhatOdor?.com and it works great. I used it on a number of things, my new used car that some idiot smoked in (odor is completely gone even from the AC) I tried in on a vomit spill, worked great, sprayed it on a decomposing opossum on the other side of my fence and poof! no smell. It leaves no odor of it's own after maybe 5 minutes. It is safe enough that the inventor has been taped drinking it!
For $30 delivered, I got two 16oz spray bottles and two 6oz spray bottles. I also used it on my nephew's football pads and it took the stank out of those too. So, I'd buy the gallon size and after you get the skunk(s) out from under the house and after you seal up all of the entry points, I'd get a garden sprayer and douche the entire underside of the house. That will fix the problem and leave no artificial scent behind. That's my $.02 worth.
