1. We have added the ability for anyone to 'bump' threads that they have created. This is mainly useful in the classifieds area where posters constantly bump for sale threads to bring it to the top. This allows them the ability to do that without having to clutter the thread with extra 'TTT' and 'Bump' type posts. To bump it, go inside your thread and click on 'Thread Tools' at the top, then select 'bump'. You can bump only once per 24 hour period.

I am looking to buy a MX-8, I know it is fairly old, 32" barrels bluing about 70%, wood had normal marks. The lever is way to the left.

I just want to get an idea of the value. I can post some pictures if that would help.

    Thanks,

    Scott

Scott, some pics are probably inorder as in your rather brief description, the ole girl sounds as though shes seen alot of use. It can get darn costly when they get shot alot and not cared for.

What I'd want to see mainly is the firing pin area of the receiver.

If the lever is past 6 o'clock, it more than likely needs a new action lock fitted and installed.

And, as mentioned above, the face of the firing pin area is important to see.

if the top lever is pass 6 oclock it is broken or cracked ,it can not go beyond 6 oclock unless one of them two reasons, needs a new top lever

The barrels are on in that picture of the lever to the left of center.

If you get it at the right price buy it! Most people just want to sell the (not part out), gun and you might be able to put a new locking block in and tune up and have nice shooter. Base your price in line with the amount on possible repairs and age. This gun is not going to bring a lot of cash. If the seller wants more than x number of dollars than walk away. I purchased a type 3 in 99% and tight original condition for 2k last year at auction.

I would say that these are not the barrels that go with the receiver -- if they are, then you really have to get a new locking block. I doubt that the gun has been shot enough to loosen up the locking block as much as the picture shows. I have to guess the receiver is fitted to a different set of barrels - and I would avoid it like the plague. the beav

Top levers CAN go past 6 o'clock and be neither cracked nor broken.

The lever *could* be bent or cracked, but it is also as likely that the Action Block (#104) is very worn. I have replaced many like this.

I'd highly recommend having the receiver blued - sure would make it look better.
