    Every year this time I start thinking about huntin Shrooms ( morels) It is only a few months off. Any other shroomers out there?

    I am and live in the Cascade Mountains. We start about May 20th @ 3000-4000'.Last year was good and hope this year will be better.When I lived in Wisconsin, I always went around Mother's Day/ when the Lilacs bloomed!

    Damp soil and warm (70 + nights) brings "em up here in Missouri.

    We love mushrooms ...but since we have two mushroom farms within 5 minutes we just buy them...now you got me thinking of a nice venison steak with mushroom and onion gravy ; (

    Calvin, there is a big difference in flavor between a home grown mushroom and a morel. I like them all but the Morels are devine

    I alwats had trouble keeping them lit when I tried smoking them.

    Dipped in egg battter then cracker crumbs and fried in butter, Mmmm

    I will definantly try a morel if the chance presents itself...Love them big ol portabellos too
