Anyone have a 2011 or 2012 Ford Pickup with Ecoboost?

    What mileage? Please be honest!

Would you buy another one? If no - why not?

Your thread mentions the Ford Ecoboost, yet you ask about the Dodge Hemi? Guess I don't understand.
My wife just got an F-150 (2011) w/Ecoboost and so far she gets about 17.5MPG. That's everyday driving with that damned ethanol blend in the winter in Wisconsin.
    Summer blend will be better.
    Hope that answers your question?

A good friend has one and is getting over 19mpg in Kansas for every day driving. His is a 4x4 and he has gotten over 21 on the interstate on a long trip.

My neigbor has a 2011 F-150 4x4. He told my son who is same age and a good friend that, to buy the ECO-BOOST; would be an extra $10,000.00. Lets be truthful, is it worth it?

Of course it is not worth $10,000.00! But Mine cost about $750.00 as an option on a new F150 Platinum, 4X4. Mileage, not towing is 17-17.5, city, 22-24 highway.
Highway mileage at 80mph is about 17mpg.

Friend has a 4x4 crew cab short box and he says 22-23 on hwy but the surprise is that it almost feels like a diesel when towing.

Ford is going to smother their lineup with this technology, giving them a leg up on the competition for a little while.

Their leg up is no bail outs and no government ownership. And no stockholders that lost it all.

There has not been a durable gas fired turbo on the market in a long time. Wait till the turbos seals start to leak and the bearings start to fry. Fords engine warranty is shortest out there. Unless you are getting a 3 year lease, better pay for the extended warranty if you choose a turbo.

I am sure Ford never tested any of your mentioned issues with the turbos. This thread is about gas mileage. What is yours getting? Or are you driving a welfare truck?

My B-in law has an eco-boost and he gets over 20 hiway. I have ridden in the truck and I like ita lot. The point about turbo longivity is valid. Extracting big power from a small motor is a marvel but you better be ready for skilled maintenance. Turbo and non turbo service intervals in the civilian airfleet are testament to this fact.

Well - i bought the ECOboost - we will see. It is a higher end truck so the option did not add much overall. Also bought the service and extended warranty. I am a bit leery as well. I'll update you on the mileage. Have only driven a few miles but i really like the truck. It is not a heavy work truck - 3.15 rear gears so the towing capacity is only about 8500. I don't tow much anyway and wanted the best mileage i could get. I do haul some bulky things from time to time though.

3000 miles a month is getting expensive.

My 2010 390HP Hemi gets 16-17 mpg in town and 20-21 Hwy MPG @70MPH and has never lost a stop-light bash to any V6 including one that puked the crankshaft trying. Good luck w/longevity on an overtaxed V6.

Borderland, I sure wish you were close by so I could try my v6 out on ya. Last time I tried it, it turned 101 through the quarter and is my wife's everyday driver. Jackie B.

Borderland, don't ever mess with one of those old crappy gran sport V6's with your big hemmie, matter of fact there are 1,000's of 4 bangers on the road that will smoke you.

I have a 2011 ECOBOOST F150 Supercrew 4x4 off road package 16 town and 18.5 highway with a tailwind....great motor, disappointed with the mileage. Didnt realize the offroad would crush me that much, my 5.4 V8 gave me the same.

Shooting Jack and Toolmaker 251....I gonna have to spank you a little because you changed the goalpost on me while I was talking pickum-up trks. I really cannot dis your mystery ride Jackie but as for toolmaker 251 you know those old Buicks had no real power(the Grand National was the bad one) or you couldnt have kept those turbo 700 trannies in them and now toolmaker is going to have me watching out for those old deadly turbo 4 cyl Mustang IIs. I hope you guys know I am just messing with you because it has been too windy to shoot trap for 2 whole days.
It is all good and good talking to you....much respect.
    Ken
