What finish is used to bring out detail of the engravings?

    Black paint, bluing, plating?

    Thanks

Hi guys , thanks for the nice comments. I don't have a price list per se but quote on request from client. Clients budget is very important in establishing if clients wants can be accomplished within budget. A simple phone call will answer most any question you may have quickly. It will also answer other questions that will arrise during conversation.

The detail is brought out by rubbing lamp black or toner into cuts. If this isn't done, the flash bounces back into the lens and detail is lost. Even in these snapshots there is lost detail. All the engraved cuts will stand out well enough without toner in the field.

I didn't run a time study on any of the birds or dog ---- only on the entire job. The time for doing game scenes is counted in days rather than a few hours. This type of work is very time consuming. I can say that it is possible to spend an entire day doing a dog . Time for one dog will be different from another due to coloration, detail and size of dog on frame -- it's all relative.

I can engrave any type of scenes you may wish. Gold inlays or high relief gold inlays as well as relief work is standard for me. I have even done high relief steel inlays on a few occasions.

If you have any questions , please give me a call at 910-221-5288 EST,. I work in the shop seven days a week so am always available to discuss your interest.

    Ken,
I was up at Marlette's shop and he was showing me Marnie's gun.Great job!!It is stillin the white metal. He spoke highly of you.
He is one of my best friends,so he has shown me another piece you did awhile back. Both of you do impressive work. You should post it on here when you guys get it finished, this place is full of Perazzi fans.We could ruffle his feathers a little if you could post pics of "his" Perazzi without him finding out about it. MANER --- thats a good idea but I never got pictures of that gun. I must say that it was one of the tougher Perazzi's I have ever cut. Ken

Ken ... for somebody who is on a very tight budget could you quote a partial price, kind of do some now and some later and then again until finished?

What would it cost to do "LUMPER" in a standard times new roman in say a 16pt lettering but for the budget conscious person like myself doing it just one letter at a time as money would allow?

BTW ... the 2nd pic posted is awesome work. I much prefer that type of work far and above the wildlife and other stuff.

Hey Lumper, if you can't see the whole picture, buy some
Viagra and entertain your self. Also don't include Paris Hilton in the same breath as this beautiful girl.

1 OZ ---- yeah, you got me. I did live inLynchburg for a number of years after leaving the Colt Custom shop. Have we met ?

LUMPER ---- I would suggest you call me re. this project. I find that far more is accomplished when we can talk and it is also the opperyunity to answer any other questions you may have.

I would respectfully suggest anyone having even the simplist question re. engraving give me a call. It will be no bother to me and I'll be happy to answer them for you. I personally believe a prospective client should always ask all the questions that he might have Before getting involved with a project.

    ENGRAVING???

Ken, I am on a budget ... like a silver sharpie drawing on the side of the gun type of budget?

Great looking work and maybe someday I will eventually maybe get a gun to be engraved with that type of beauty but for now I just don't have the income or can see that custom gorgeous work like that could make me shoot any better ... but maybe some day ya just never know.

LUMPER ---- no problem my man. Still, if you would like to call re. having your name engraved, we can discuss it. You will probably find the cost very affordable. Best regards at anyrate, Ken
