Does anyone have any tips on removing the forearm nut from a Winchester model 42 without the spanner wrench? I don't want to buy a wrench for what will probably be a one time job.
    Thanks
    Bill

    Hi Bill:

Have tried numerous ways to do so, and all I accomplished was a lot of scratchs on both the wood and adjacent metal. Buy or borrow a spanner and avoid a lot of headache and scratches. GEG.

Bill..... Listen to GEG, above. Been there, done that, got that shirt.. Is a bad scratch in the gun, or the wood, worth less than the cost of the tool? Bite the bullet and buy the tool. Use it for the job you need and list it on ebay. Chances are you can sell the tool for more than it cost you.. Dan Thome (Trap2)

Bill... Brownell's had them, as I recall, at a very good price. That's where I got mine... Dan
