Other than Stu Wright and Simmons- who are go to guys for going through a Model 12 to give it a "checkup" for more decades of service? I'm in PA, so a local guy would be great, but I'm not opposed to sending it off.

A former Winchester Rep. told me in San Antonio one year, that Wright's gunsmithing is the best. That was good enough for me. Charlie

Stu Wright put one together for me out of parts I bought on Ebay; barrel and all. Stu is the man.

Is Stu pretty fair on going through a working gun and replacing springs, making adjustments (if needed) and identifying potential trouble spots. Yeah, I know, I've heard the stories of them shooting with broken firing pins, but I want to lean on the safe side.

Stu rebuilt a 1923 black diamond M12 for me and recut and finished the stock. It looks as good as it did when it came out of the factory I'm positive. Cost around $700 but well worth it.

Stu was quick with a reply last week. Saiad turnaround currently was 3-4 weeks for a cleaning and a 'annual', if you want to call it that for a M12.
