The end ( the end that goes into the reciever ) of the Action arm sometime has to have a little filed off of it, if it is too long it wont let the bolt relax enough to release the forearm, this was the case with a Model 12 I just got and it was made in 1924, before you do any filing put an EMPTY shell in the chamber and pull the trigger, now turn the gun on it's side, now looking into the ejection port look at the inside of the reciever where the action arm touches the mechinsm that releases the bolt and you will see where the problem is....... you will now have to push forward on the forearm to see the problem area, you may have to do this several times to see what is happining, but that is where the problem is...

I'd say you have a timer wire problem, located on the action release, wires could be bent or broken. I think something like 11 parts can break in these guns and it will still fire! Hap

Duckman.....When you say you must push the forearm forward before you eject, do you mean before you pull it to the rear to open the bolt??

I assume that this is after firing a live shell. If so, disregard what I have to say. If it is only after dry firing, the recoil is required to release the bolt. They are designed that way.

If you are shooting normal trap loads in a 3" M12, there is not enough recoil to release the slide.

A soft hold on the fore end could also be the problem, similar to "limp wristing" an auto loading pistol.
