2ND ANNUAL MINNESOTA YOUTH CHAIN SHOOT

The next two links in the Youth Chain Shoot will be held on July 25 (Monticello) and July 26 (St. Michael) and will be combined into a 'mini-Grand'!

    EVENT DETAILS:

#2 July 25, 2009 9:00am registration at Monticello Sportsmen Club in Monticello, MN

#3 July 26, 2009 9:00am registration at St. Michael Sportsmen Club in St. Michael, MN

This event is designed for AIM, SCTP, 4H High Schools and NEW ATA shooters! We invite any and all youth to participate, regardless of shooting ability, as well as any NEW adult ATA shooters. The MN Chain Shoot was developed by Mark Stevens, NRA/ATA registered coach, to provide an opportunity to kids and new adult ATA shooters that would teach them the skills needed to shoot registered ATA targets in a comfortable yet competitive environment.

This event will be shot at three remaining locations this summer--shoot one, two or three events!

Trophies will be awarded to the 1st and 2nd place winners in each of the four ATA classes.

A Shamrock Shooting bag will be awarded for the shooter with the highest average over the chain shoot (must participate in at least 3 of the 4 events). Thank you to the Watertown Rod and Gun Club and Shamrock Leathers for sponsorship of this bag!

There are four (4) ATA classes in this event. Shooters must register with the ATA (Amateur Trap Shooting Association). We will sign you up at the event if not registered. ATA membership for NEW youth shooters is FREE; adults is 1/2 price ($20.00).

New membership funding and refreshments is provided by the Minnesota Trap Shooting Association and we thank them for their very generous support of this Chain Shoot.

Prices for the day: $23.00/100 16 yard targets, $2.00 ATA Daily Fee, $3.00 MTA Daily Fee, with an optional $5.00 Lewis Purse (adults/youth separate).

Upcoming MN Chain Shoot Event Dates:

#4 August 22, 2009 9:00am registration at Waverly Gun Club in Waverly, MN

The above gun clubs have been authorized to hold a Registered ATA Event. ATA rules will govern these events and the scores will be included in the official ATA records

QUESTIONS? Please contact Mark Stevens at (612) 703-6155 or Sally Stevens at (763) 486-0853. For more information visit the Buffalo Gun Club Youth website at www.buffalogunclubyouth.org and click on the MN Youth Chain Shoot link or email us at bgcyp@aol.com.

There's a new brochure on our website for those of you interested in learning more about our youth 'mini-grand' this weekend in Minnesota! If you have any questions give me a call at 763-486-0853.

The weather looks like it's going to be 77 degrees, light wind and some cloud cover--perfect for those 100x100's! Adults are welcome to shoot registered targets as well but not eligible for our prizes, we're keeping all those for the youth shooters (but Coach and I will buy you a diet Coke if that makes you happy!)

    Hey shooters,

Please remember that this is designed to be a two day shoot. If you can only shoot one day that is fine also. For shooters whom want to come from a distance, Monticello Sportsmans Club has offered the use of their camp ground for the Saturday evening before the 2nd days shoot Sunday at near by St. Michael.

There are some nice additional prizes. All youth shooters whom shoot will be eligible for a drawing on August 22nd, at Waverly gun club, to have a chance to hunt for a day with Sally, Myself and our family on our land in Western MN. for Pheasants, geese or ducks. (230 acres CRP of which 95 acres is water) In Minnesota's major flyway! If a youth shoots on event of this chain shoot they are eligible for 1 chance, if you shoot 4 events you are eligible for 4 chances. One name per event.

We will take up to 6 persons for a day of hunting. Bring mom, dad, and yourselves for some of Minnesota's finest hunting! Bird numbers on pheasants look good for this year. Geese numbers look to be up also.

    See you Saturday and Sunday!

Wow, very generous! That's a great opportunity to experience the great outdoors in Minnesota.
Hope we get lots of names in that hat, and may the luckiest kid win. (And bring his/her coach hunting)

Thanks to Monticello Sportsmen's Club and the Crow River Sportsmen's Club for a highly successful Chain #2 & #3 in the 2009 Minnesota Youth Chain Shoot!

A total of 42 youth shooters participated over the two day event. Weather cooperated and the target presentation at both clubs was just excellent. Special thanks to:

--Kim and Kevin Kitzman and the Monticello Sportsmen's Club for all the organization and support on Saturday, July 25th.

--Scott Berning and the Crow River Sportsmen's Club for everything they did to make the day so successful on Sunday, July 26th.

--The Minnesota Trapshooting Association's Youth Fund for their financial support of this Chain Shoot. They have continued to support this endeavour and our goal of getting more youth shooters involved in ATA registered targets and we are so grateful.

--John Berning, John Berning Sports (St. Michael, MN) for providing a flat of shells to each one of the events for us to use as we want. Because of your generosity there was not one shooter who left either day without something to take home.

--Wally Shelstad, Buffalo Gun Club (Buffalo, MN) for providing a 10 round youth shooting card to be gifted to the youth with the lowest score each day. A generous gift and the best way to keep kids shooting!

--Watertown Rod and Gun Club (Watertown, MN) and Shamrock Leathers for donating the custom leather shooting bag for our High Over All shooter to be given out at the last chain shoot in Waverly, MN on August 22nd, 2009.

--All the parents, friends and family members who support kids and trapshooting in the state of Minnesota and beyond, including pulling trap, cleaning the clubhouses, preparing for events, driving your kids all over the place, and keeping them in the game. You are truly the driving force behind the future of our sport.

Results to follow. This post is already too long!
