A few calls came in today and last evening. This shoot is open to all youths. You do not need a firearms certificate. There will be persons available that can show you how to shoot and instruct you on shooting if this would be your first time. Newly signed adults can also shoot the event, but would not be eligible for the trophies.

The whole family can shoot this event as long as they are presently an ATA member or has signed up at the event on Saturday Morning. Minnesota Trap Association will pay for the new youth membership for 2008. Adults fees for membership are $20.00 for the year. This is a wonderful opportunity to shoot with youths of their own age. The four classes makes the chances of winning a trophy equal for all shooters.

Look forward to seeing you there!

The goal is to get youth shooters familar with signing up, squading, cashiering, finding your field, shooting and recording your scores. These are registered targets.

It's a great idea and it was Mark Stevens and he has worked hard to make it a success. I would like to add that the MTA will pay half of the $20 adult membership fee if the shooter is new to registered shooting.

Great job Mark Stevens. We've tried hard to get new shooters in Minnesota and I think this is as good as a program there is.

Well the results of the 2nd leg of the 1st Annual MN. Youth Chain Shoot are in.

The day was beautiful, no wind low 80's, Cobalt blue sky and blazing orange bio targets! 28 students took part in a 100 bird race that yeilded some great scores and a very good time. One youth shooter out of St. Michael MN., Alex Steffens broke his 1st 100 bird run. Alex did not stop their, he went over to the practice trap and broke another 100 for a 200 bird streak, earning him a 25,50,75,125,150,175 patch and two belt buckles for the 100 and 200 straight. Alex also broke the all time high for the club with a 200 straight. He could be seen shakeing as he collected his spoils! Pictures were taken of him during and throughout the day and presented to him on Sunday, by Sally MacNab of Buffalo, MN. Thank you Sally!

Shooting started at 9:00 sharp and youths competed for the chance to win two trophies in each catagory from A,B,C and D. The results are as follows.

Class A 1st place Jake Bartz, Cologne, MN., with a score of 95
Class A Runner up was Colin James, Independence, with a score of 93

Class B 1st place Alex Steffens, St. Michael, MN. with a score of 100.
Class B Runner up Curt Daleiden, Albertville, MN. with a score of 96.

Class C 1st place, Jared Hilde, Monticello, MN. with a score of 95
Class C Runner up, Tony Thien, Buffalo, MN. with a score of 92.

Class D 1st place, Dakota Ziemer, Excelsior, MN. with a score of 88
Class D Runner up, Jake Good, Rogers, MN. with a score of 86.

Special thanks goes to Gary Kubasch, Club manager, and the board of directors of Watertown Gun Club. Gene Lack in the assistance in squading and classifying, and Jody Crawford for the food preparation.

I personally want to thank all the shooters, their families and friends for supporting this event. It was a great day to be able to shoot an event like this in MN. for the youth! Leg 3, the final leg, will continue next Saturday, August 2nd., at Waverly Gun club, 1.5 miles north of Waverly, MN.

Minnesota gained 7 new ATA youth shooters during this event!!!

    Thanks again,
    Mark Stevens
