"Let's get the record straight. First of all, there's no question that I support 2nd Amendment rights, but I also support an assault weapon ban."

"These guns are not made for recreation or self-defense. They are instruments of destruction with the sole purpose of hunting down and killing people."

"I know the NRA does not support an assault weapon ban. So I don't line up on that particular issue with the NRA."

"I don’t think (the waiting period) will have a massive effect on crime but I think it will have a positive effect."

"I purchased a gun when I was a young man. I've been a hunter pretty much all my life." (Romney's campaign later said he'd been hunting twice, once when he was 15, and once in 2006 at a Republican fundraiser

"I'm not a big-game hunter. I've made that very clear. I've always been a rodent and rabbit hunter. Small varmints, if you will."

"I saw my father march with Martin Luther King." (Romney's campaign later admitted that they didn't march on the same day, or in the same city)

"PETA is not happy that my dog likes fresh air." --on strapping his dog to the top of the car

"My sons are all adults and they've made decisions about their careers and they've chosen not to serve in the military and active duty and I respect their decision in that regard. One of the ways my sons are showing support for our nation is helping me get elected because they think I'd be a great president."

"You sit down with your attorneys and tell you what you have to do, but obviously the president of the United States has to do what's in the best interest of the United States against a potential threat." --on whether he would consult Congress about invading Iran

"Hugo Chavez has tried to steal an inspiring phrase 'Patria o muerte, venceremos.' It does not belong to him. It belongs to a free Cuba." --invoking a phrase that translates to "Fatherland or death, we shall overcome," which Fidel Castro has used to close his speeches for years, and which is associated with Cuban oppression

"Well, the question is kind of a non sequitur, if you will. And what I mean by that -- or a null set." --after being asked during a Republican debate whether is was a mistake to invade Iraq

    "We should double Guantanamo!"

"I'm happy to learn that after I speak you're going to hear from Ann Coulter. That's a good thing. I think it's important to get the views of moderates." --right before Coulter called John Edwards a "faggot"

Brian i know your motives are to elect a strong second ammendment person and i think almost everyone here will concur but you need to get real with the fact Romney will get the nod by default. And i will not vote for him in the primary but know full well my choice will come down to him or Hussein. He will get my vote at that juncture. If this country does not reverse cours quick none of the constitution will matter and that includes gun rights. This country may well turn into something none of us could imagine if Hussein is re-elected. My vote will go to Bachmann and i can only hope Romney picks a true conservative to be his running mate.Take a chill pill and enjoy the holidays.

Like one fellow said today in our local paper. "Mitt is rudderless and windblown". I thought that described him perfectly.

Tripod that explains all good politicians. It does not explain good conservatives. True conservatives have a conviction about where this country should be headed. Politicians are windblown to pander to "all" people. It is how you get elected.

Here, I'll give you a Romney quote several months before he actually says it:

"I accept the nomination of the Republican party for the Presidency of the Untited States."

BTW, BAD303 is making a lot of sense lately. So if you don't like me and my big mouth, maybe you'll consider listening to him.

Well, good luck with that. Romney has a lot of anti-gun baggage. Because of this a lot of people are going to vote third party or write in a pro-gun candidate. Will it cost Romney the election? Maybe. Maybe not.

Romney also stands for higher taxes, killing jobs, nominating 75% Dem judges, and socialized medicine. Many see very little difference between Romney and Obama.

So when you say he is "electable" you're assuming he will have complete support. He does not.

Myself, I can overlook a lot of faults in a candidate. In fact, I will support any Republican other than Romney. Banning guns crosses the line. It is the one thing chiseled in stone that I and many others require of the GOP for our vote. We will not be taken for granted.

So if Obama beats Romney, blame yourselves that you could not find one Republican out of the entire field that you could support who supported the Second Amendment and the rest of us.

Romney has no more chance than any of the moderate Republicans who went down in flames before him. Given a choice between a liberal and a conservative, the conservative will win every time.

The proper spelling for moderate is L-O-S-E-R
