No doubt that is a scam. Those guns don't go for as much as you would think but it should still be up in the 4-5k range.

Would you send $1800 to a guy selling a gun (worth many times that) who also has zero feedback? It would have to be a face to face - even then, the gun may be stolen.

Yes, you missed out. Count your blessings.

Even the bidding is strange. Only one bid of $1,800 when there was no reserve and it opened at $700.

You can still get a deal on a bridge I have for sale up in NY. It is known as the Brooklyn Bridge. Bids started at $1000, all funds payable to my Barrista in Nigeria. :)

I don't know if you would worry about the starting bid being $700 and the bid going to $1,800.00. I don't know why, but everytime I bid on Gunbroker.com and its the first bid it goes right to my maximum bid.

I suppose some idiot kid could have gotten this from his grandpa who passed away, and didn't have a clue what it was.

Still, it looks and smells fishy to me. For crying out loud the scope and rings were easily worth $1800. Go price one of those 56mm objective scope rings, I'll bet you're probably looking at $300 to $400 just for that. If I was the winning bidder, I think I would make the trip and complete the transaction in person, better yet complete the transaction at local gun shop and invite a cop along to run the gun to see if its stolen.

I guess the buy it now threw me off. No one really had a chance to drive the bid to market value. Quite possibly a scam and ATF would have fun with that one, but I thought maybe not...Many people get things for various reasons and don't know that value..We are aware of $35K Krieghoff, and $150K Hollands, but to some poeple $1800 is a very expensive gun...When I first got into shooting, I didn't even know you could spend 5K on a gun...Anyhow, would be interesting to find out if it was bought and shipped and clear.
I've found deals over the years, but have also seen scams.
