Is this where the famous Jimmy Bowen shoots?? Will he be at the shoot?? Will they be serving their famous burgers?? Will Jimmy, if there, be shooting one of his two Bowens or his Beretta club?? Will they have free donuts?? Will the Litterist show?? Jimmy, can you answer these important questions??

Who's the litterist? Is that the guy that always empties his ash tray in your parking lot?

Ahhh, Jimmy Bowen hasn't been shooting too much lately.....been working getting things ready for the 600 High School kids coming for the Championship this weekend.

But, yeah, this is the place.

    <a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v662/jimw-mn/?action=view&current=ClubHouseEvening.jpg" target="_blank">[IMG]</a>

And, yeah, I'll be there, trying to be the first one to repeat as the Minneapolis Gun Club Handicap Champion!!! Shootin the Bowen.

Will the Lit show????? Who knows. I do have a reliable rumor that he was seen at the MO State shoot last week. Did he shoot??? Naw, just talked everybody's ear off.

Don't forget, Saturday we will have a free roast pig dinner compliments of Neil Winston. That in itself is worth coming for, not to mention the chance to win the Championship buckle.....and the bragging rights.

C'mon out, enjoy the day and bust some clays.©

    June 17,18 & 19.

Jimmy, is there a hidden reason you are serving pig?

Why pig????? Because it tastes good, thats why.

And from the sounds coming out of that Prevost at times, you kinda like pig too.

Why do you always park in the mud?????

Coming up soon, the 8th annual Minneapolis Gun Club Handicap Championship.

    Hope to see you there.

Jimmy Jimmy, no need to get sarcastic. Just asked, why pig, that's all. You seem quite sensitive to the question. Why is that?

Maybe this sensitivity comes from the frustration of your favorite shooting piece's failure. Maybe it comes from a reference to your past lovelifes. Who knows. But gosh Jimmy, you need to work on it in any case.

Hey Jeff, yeah, they're some nice buckles. But, the one you want to win is the custom Handicap Champion buckle on Saturday. Sorry Big Dan, the devil made me do it.

    <a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v662/jimw-mn/?action=view¤t=LorenLarsonBuckle.jpg" target="_blank">[IMG]</a>

You get to have your choice of rosette stones and get your name on the perpetual plaque so everybody can see it.

Here is last years winner, Troy Haverly, after a shoot off with Dennis Kecker.

    <a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v662/jimw-mn/?action=view¤t=HSShootandMGCHandicapChampionship01.jpg" target="_blank">[IMG]</a>

He was pretty happy and it was the first time there was a shoot off for the buckle.

Roast pig Saturday afternoon, plenty of sunshine, light winds and the best set targets in the state.........Hope to see you there.

Start time on Friday is 10:00. Singles, TGIF Handicap and Doubles.

Some good scores amongst the 50+ shooters. Past champ Kecker broke 97 from 27 alongside me. Fun to watch all those birds break. Infectious. Me? 90. Good for me too.

My question is, why was there only one class A singles shooter and one class B doubles shooter Friday??? Was the turnout low or did Jimmy Bowen do all the classifying??

Oh, one more question. Did Kecker shoot that 97 with his real trap gun or with the Black Hills replica trap gun he hardly ever uses?

Ithaca will post to this later. But the Saturday Handicap championship event was rained out an is now scheduled to begin at 9:30 Sunday AM. See you there.

Pride... a Perazzi was Kecker's best tool yesterday enhanced by MIA trigger timing.

    Jimmy,

Just a short note to let you know that I had a great time yesterday even with the weather. The targets were set perfect for the one event we were able to shoot and the staff was A-1!!! It's always a pleasure and a lot of fun shooting at the Minneapolis Gun Club.

Good Luck today and See You Guys Soon!!!

We got 'er done today!!!! We went right into the Championship Handicap this morning and things clicked right along.

We ran 2 banks, 25 targets to a trap, switched banks for the 2nd 100 so everybody shot all 8 fields. The speed and height of the targets were checked/reset in between the 100's. It was a cloudy at first, then partly cloudy with little wind. It was pretty nice.

The first 100 targets went well with Tom Mavencamp posting a 97 as high score, with a 95 and 3 94's following. We turned the events after a short break to check for punches and a free lunch of roast pig. Scott Steffen was high in the 2nd 100 with a 96 and Jerry Demulling backing up his 94 in the 1st 100 with a 95. Now everybody was thinking that Jerry was going to be the first MGC Handicap Champion to repeat with a 189, but then came along Tom Mavencamp with his 93 to take the Championship with his 190.

Now if you haven't heard of Tom Mavencamp, maybe its because he's 16 years old. He's a product of the Youth Shooting effort that has evolved in Minnesota in the last 5 years. He's from the St. Michael area and his coach is Scott Berning. Nice job Scott.

    <a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v662/jimw-mn/?action=view&current=HandicapShoot2011005.jpg" target="_blank">[IMG]</a>

    Here are the Winners of the cash trophy's;

    1st Thomas Mavencamp 190

    2nd Jerry Demulling 189

    3rd Darwin Bridgland 188

    4th Dan Ward 187

    5th Cheryl Demulling 186

    6th Scott Steffen 186

    7th Nancy Rawerts 185

    8th Neil Winston 185

    9th Monique Morton 185

    10th Scott Larson 184

Tom, in addition to winning the cash and getting his name on the perpetual plaque, will receive a custom Tilden Trophies belt buckle.

    <a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v662/jimw-mn/?action=view&current=HandicapShoot2011004.jpg" target="_blank">[IMG]</a>

We finished up the day with a Doubles event.

    AA..Richard Champeau...99

    A.. Jake Slaughter....98

    B..Dennis Kecker...96

    C..Scott Steffen..91

Now the 98 in A class was a contested one. Jake and Tim Mackey were tied with 98's. Now these 2 wanted to do everything they could do to deplete the target inventory at the Minneapolis Gun Club, but it went 2 rounds. Both were straight, well, as straight as these 2 can be, and Tim dropped 3 targets in the 2nd round. Jake got 'em all. Nice shooting guys. It was fun to watch.

    <a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v662/jimw-mn/?action=view&current=HandicapShoot2011007.jpg" target="_blank">[IMG]</a>

The management and staff at the Minneapolis Gun Club would like to thank everyone who shot the last 3 days, endured the wet weather, and showed up today to shoot the Championship. Thanks again to Neil for the roast pig. We hope everybody has a good summer and good luck at the upcoming shoots.

    Long ride home Tim????

Nancy did really good today. If I remember right she had one of the 94's on the first 100?

Thanks for all your help with the scoring last weekend and this weekend.
