It is with great sadness that I report that my very very good friend, all around great guy, firefighter/paramedic and damned good trapshooter Mike Head was taken last evening in an accident at his home.

He was working on his “road groomer” when it fell on him and he was crushed. He was found when his wife, Betsy, returned home from work. No further information will be available until the coroner is done with his duties, probably late this afternoon.

This has been a hard week on us Western shooters.

As I recall, Mike was a shooter in your videos. That has to be tough.

But may I ask, what is a "road groomer"?

I feel for this man's family and friends for such a tragic accident. If there's anything our trapshooting community can do to assist Mike's family, let us know.

PK, so sorry to hear about your friend. Something so tragic can happen so fast, even if its something you've done before and everything went right.

My condolences to Mike's family and friends.

Our condolences from the shooters of Oklahoma. Mike and his dad Dean attended our State Shoot whenever possible as Dean lives close to the gun club. He was a good guy and will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his wife and family. Larry Parsons.

    Phil,

This is so, so sad. I shot with Mike a few times in Vandalia. What a great guy. To pass at such a young age is a terrible thing. My heart goes out to his family and the many friends who knew Mike much better than I.

May he “Rest in Peace” God Bless
