I reload about 6,000 rounds per year, currently on a MEC single stage. Mostly load 7/8's for 16 yd. Cost aside, which loader would be better. I have not used a PW before and want to make sure it is not to difficult to set up and operate. Any advice would be appreciated.
I started on a Mec, then a Hornday, and finally to a P/W. And, honestly, I liked the P/W so much I became a dealer for them about 30 years ago.
I also have a Spolar. I like them both, and both are running hydraulics.
Mecs are a nice machine, but you are comparing an 870 to a Perazzi here. Mec has many stamped parts, whereas the P/W is machined aluminum and steel.
Acknowleging price differences, both machines are representative. The Mec is cheaper and the P/W is more expensive. P/W's will turn out a reload every 2-3 seconds, a shell that so closely resembles a new shell, they are difficult to distingish. The Spolar is a totally CNC machined machine but is over twice the price of a P/W and a P/W is twice the price of a Mec.
Buy what your pocketbook can afford and you will be fine.
