mec 9000

    my mec 9000 all of a sudden started to crush the brass (round the brass) on the first stage. any ideas would be appreciated

    done all that do you think I should take the collet out and clean it?

    probably a piece of shot between the collet fingers. use a dental pick and scrape between each of the fingers.

    I hated my 9000. I had the same problem more than once - heed the advice above.

    Then, in a few months; when you get fed up; get a PW800+, RCBS Grand or Spolar.

    An Impala seems like a great car until drive Lexus.

    Check and see if your wad guide has moved or slipped down. If it has it will not lower your hull enough to let it set in the correct position and therefore rolls the brass. I have got to say the the 9000h is pretty close to JUNK!!!! IMHO

    Brantman,

    I had the same problem (I purchased my 9000 over the Internet from someone connected with this forum). The inside of the assembly was filthy. Page 20 & 21 of the Mec 9000 series owners manual shows you how to clean and lubricate the collet assembly. After cleaning mine the problem went away. Make sure you use a good anti-seize lubricant (Mec sells it for $6.00 per tube).

    cleaned the collet and raised the wad guide. other than a loud noise when I pull the handle im back to making ammo. thanks guys for the help

    Can't imagine trading my PW for a Mec.
