    MEAT SHOOT IDEA

Out local sportsman club is thinkling of having a meat shoot, trobles in the past getting enough people to make it work. Looking for some idea's that our club's use, several we have #1 have the club furnish shoot off shell's # 2 have 1 place to shoot off and have shell's there, give shooters a number rather than their names, have a deck of cards to choose position of shooter when going to the line. Some of this would keep 27 yd shooters from coosing the yardage all the time. Everyone tell me what you think

At our Club we start off at 16 yards with 5 or 10 shooters 1 target each station.

Shooters that do not miss move to 22 yards post 1 line up shoot 1 target shooters that miss are out the others move to station 3 & 5 same.

If there are shooters left go to 27 yards same thing until 1 shooter left. If there are shooters with no misses move back another 5 to 6 yards.

The shooter that wins has to start at 22 yards and shoots 6 yards further back thru all stations. 2 wins starts at 27 yards and so on.

    Hope this helps.

We have sign up sheets at the counter, some are marked 16, some 27. Some are marked buddy, some are marked do da ( pieces) Nobody complains. We allow the shooters to shoot any shell they want to, we have fun. Usually the first person to sign on number one station calls the game as to what we shoot ( 16, 27, single, buddy etc)

Suggest that les caliber shooters bring a hole squad shoot five rounds / five prizes. Just like the duck pond when you were a kid.For the good shooters that like to pick on kids and such,we will stick a shooter on there to slow em down. As far as just putting them 6 yards farther back,he is still gone to win.
As far as shells go , you still gotta be on.

If you have beginners and advanced shooters, make sign up sheets as such. Do not let the good shooters pick the pockets of the beginners, that pisses me off

Have your meat shoot on a combination trap - skeet field. Throw trap and skeet targets. This will attract trap, skeet, and sporting clays shooters. You can also have one or two sporting clay machines hiding in the weeds.

And don't forget to have food. HMB

We found the meat shoots are a pain and some of the meat sits in the freezer so we went to 5 & 2's. First gets $5 and second get $2. Ties shoot off for first and second. Two rounds per post. Goes over well. Plus we sold the freezer and save on electricity.
