Very important 2nd Amendment case is being heard by the U.S. Supreme Court.

Question is whether 14th Amendment made the Bill of Rights applicable to the States. For the benefit of any Liberals, the Bill of Rights includes the 2nd Amendment.

After the Civil War, many Southern States were persecuting the freed slaves, especially by denying them firearms. Congress passed the 14th Amendment to address this and other injustices by making the States honor the Bill of Rights. The Supreme Court, in the SlaughterHouse Cases, held that the 14th Amendment did not do what it clearly says it does.

140 years later the Supreme Court has decided to consider the question anew.

The case challenges the City of Chicago's ban on handguns.

This case poses the ultimate dilemma Liberal. Individual Rights or Anti-gun.

Read the brief filed on behalf of the law abiding citizen trying to get a handgun for the protection of his Chicago home at:

Brief is by Alan Gura, the Israeli-born American lawyer who won the Heller case.

Amicus briefs on behalf of the citizen due Monday November 23.

Briefs for Chicago and anyone else against Liberty due December 30.

Case will be heard in February and decided by June 30

This is the Brief of the Congress of Racial Equality at the Seventh Circuit.

It is a commpelling argument that the 14th Amendment was enacted to among other things make the States obey the 2nd Amendment.

This must give the Liberals fits.

Brief of 38 Attorneys General (from the States that stand on the side of Liberty, Freedom and Equality)

New Jersey, with its zero crime rate, felt it need not join.
