On page 49 of the ATA rule book, the maximum velocity allowed for a 1 1/8 ounce load is 1290 fps, 1 Ounce load is 1325 fps and a 7/8 ounce load is listed as 1350 fps. There are some factory loaded 3/4 oz loads out there that are in the 1400 fps range but since this small payload is not specifically listed in the rule book, are they not allowed in ATA competition?

JK.. My testing shows the best balance of a 24 gram load to be under 1350 fps.. i load to a tested 1330 fps and have been very happy.. As you get beyond 1350..and certainly by 1400.. I see my patterns breaking down..

In ATA shoots, anything over 1350 fps can get you and your score disqualified. Factory marking on the box for sure will. 1290 is max for 1-1/8 ounces, 10 more fps will get you the same treatment by using SC loads at 1300.

Hap - I should have read that a little closer. It does state that the maximum allowable for 7/8 oz OR LESS is 1350.
