I am trying to finish a Wenig stock to match a late 70's 1100 forearm.

The forearm is in good shape, so I don't want to refinish it unless I have to.

Any suggestions for matching the high gloss finish?

Its a field grade gun that will mostly be used for sporting clays, so I expect it to be out in bad weather and get dinged once in a while.

    Thanks,

    Mike

Automotive clearcoat, Durable, glossy, and easy to fix if you bugger it up.

    Mike,

It's almost impossible to duplicate for the hobbyist. Clearcoat may or may not work it depends on your experience with the stuff. I can do it if your interested e-mail me. I would expect it to take around a week to turn around if it's bare wood and never finished before.

The other thing that I should mention: most of the Good clearcoats have isocyanates; nasty if you inhale enough of the stuff.

Oh the stuff I spray costs several hundred dollars a gallon and you can't get it in smaller quantities.

I would have an easier time matching the finish than matching the color.
