Have just heard from members of the executive committee that 1,610 shooters have entered the $200 Martin Lewis. That means that $322,000 has been added to the total Martin Lewis for a Grand Total of $532,000.

The old record for shooters shooting the total 1,000 targets during Grand Week was 987. We now have 1610 That means an increase of 63 percent.

Monday's class championship was up by 400 plus shooters.

I know i was on squad 478 and was not the last squad. There were alot of shooters. Great news for the sport in general and proves money talks in my opinion.

Bill--I'll second that. I don't know if we can Thank them enough.

Andy--Honestly i don't care why they came, i'm just happy for the sport they did. It proves that if they would put the money back in the game that you guys grew up with, it may launch this sport into something close to what it used to be. You think?? I can't help but think some of the sponsors are gonna look at donating some big money like the Martins. Thats pure speculation or maybe wishfull thinking on my part.

Two bad you two are not here to take your cut.

That's awesome. No, I didn't go but was looking at the #'s from last year vs this year.
Discount Tuesdays events last year and compare the Wed-Sun numbers and they were down about 2% from last year (11703 vs 11872). Hopefully this week is different..it'll be interesting to see how the Lewis payouts shake out this week. Could be some big money figures in there!

The anticipation is always greater than the realization....

There's alot to be said for "compulsory purses".... it'll bring in the shooter's and competition.

If you attended any of the past Grands at Sparta & were now at this years event it would be obvious that attendance is up. At least that is what I immediately thought. There was a very nice crowd last Saturday. I hope what I think, based on the overall view, is actually true when the numbers come in.
The weather has been great & should remain that way thru the Grand.

    Monday's Winchester AA Singles Championship:

    2010 had 1674 entries

    2011 had 2109 entries

Will be interesting to see how the rest of the events entries and payouts pan out.

There's always a nice crowd on the weekend of Preliminary Week because that's when the AIM shoot is held.

However, based on having 1,610 shooters in the $200k Lewis, that should be the minimum number in any event from here on out except for Thursday's doubles which aren't included in the HOA.

Assuming that the increased attendance is directly related to the $300,000 (Martin) donation, could someone figure how that converts into dollars as regards to the ATA and the local economy? I'm thinking the Martin's have made a very wise investment. ( you have spend $$ to make $$)
