Isn't 2 or 3 dollars per shooter paid back the same as a mandatory purse?? If not, why not.

If it was added money its not an option or purse its simply part of the trophy.

If you are required to pay it to play it with no option out choice then it is a mandatory purse. JRM

It is not. It is part of the target fee and covers the cost of the trophy. In this case the trophy is cash, and the amount is based on the number of shooters in the event. I've seen small clubs use this type of trophy because it ensures their trophy cost will not exceed their revenues in the event that turnout is low.

If the cash coming in is to cover the prize and the prize is cash paid out and then it is paid out based on class performance then it is a mandatory purse. If the cash paid out is added money with no regard to how much is paid in and there is no money figured into the entry fee to cover the prize then I may concede that it is not a mandatory purse. It's like the chicken and the egg. JRM

But, it is "the same as a mandatory purse."

"Purse" does not mean "option" in all instances. It can also mean "trophy."

And in this instance, it is the "same as a mandatory purse."

I've used it in shoots I've designed. Some people don't like it, but the fact remains that the "trophy" cost has to come from somewhere. In this case it's just a bit more obvious where it comes from.

But like BM-P, I'm waiting for the rest of the question.
