Have any of you made your own ribs, experimental or otherwise, on PLAIN BARRELLS? If so, how did they work, what was the process and how did you figure out how to adjust the posts to the varying diameters of the plain barrell? Thanks, Dave

Yes I have made my own rib but not on a plain barrel. It worked great. Barrel already had an existing low profile factory ventilated rib. Having to contour the bottom of the new rib precisely to fit the contour of the barrel radius would be a bit above my machining ability with what I have to work with.

There was a thread on here recently of someone that made their own rib from Delrin material they ordered. It turned out really nice and he saved a alot of money doing it himself. I don't recall who made it or the name of the thread.

This the one? Seems to be working pretty good. The kid broke a 190/200 with it on Saturday. His personal best to date.

Still interested in learning how to do a plain barrell or who can or has done one. I want it for my model 12 I got 54 years ago for Christmas.

I made an ajustable add on rib for my O/U barrels when I had the max ta rib installed on my unsingle so they would both work with the same stock settings. I tapered the add on and finished the top to match the original rib. I would think to put a rib on a plain barrel, it would be best to send it to Simmons or Moneymaker.

Ya I have a CNC Tool & Die shop so it's pretty easy for me to make cool stuff! Had a lot of guys wanting ribs but none wanted to pay for them, obviously they are not cheap delrin glued on ribs, I would have custom made and fit each one. But like I said some guys don't want to pay for quality and craftsmanship, so I abandoned ship on doing any of them at all, let'em glue a P.O.S. on their rib!!!

    Chipmaker,

How much for a rib if you were to make one? Quality costs money!
