Lower velocity ?????????????

    will a lower velocity shell create a tighter pattern??????

    If it's really low -say 1050, then yes.

    If it's say between "light" and "Heavy" then no, generally, though sometimes you get some minimal effect.

    If it's say between "light" and "Handicap" then you can usually (but not always) get something you can measure, but probably not enough to make use of in a practical sense, say "opening up" patterns at singles with a faster shell.

    All this depends completely on counting pellets and a reasonable number of patterns, ten for example.

    If you "pattern by eye" or "smoke" or that kind of thing, you could never tell.

    chances are the lower the velocity the shell has, the lower the pressure will be. a shell with low pressure will have a tighter pattern. that is why a 1oz shell will have a tighter pattern than 1 1/4 load at the same speed.
