LOP mod 12 Question on older guns

    I have a old black dimond strait grip solid rib winchester mod 12 trap LOP 13 1/2 Does not look cut on some older guns I see what is now considered short is this a average LOP on old MOD 12,S Thanks Dave

    Back in M12 Black Diamond days you could order any LOP you wanted. Winchester had salesman going around taking orders, as well as providing standard grade guns.

    That might explain the stock I cleaned up on this gun last weekend. It's a M12 with a raised, matted rib, 32 in. long, full choke, made in 1927 with 1 1/8 DAC, 1 5/8 DAH and 14.25 LOP. Not standard dimensions as far as I can tell.


    I used Simple Green and hot water with a green scotchbrite sponge. After it dried, I used Scott's liquid Gold polish followed by Johnson's paste wax.

    Trap shooters were a few inches shorter in the early 1900's thru 1950.

    Hence, shorter LOP's
