Can you make a tool to tighten the 870 forearm?

You can, but you can also use the points of a pair of needle nose pliers. Remove the fore end from the magazine tube first, and it's a lot easier.

You can buy one on ebay for about $15.00.

    Works fine.

Remington made a part of the 870 just for that purpose to tighten the forend nut. Take the piece that the bolt sits on top of, and attach a vice grip pliers to it, then turn, and tighten the nut.

I made one just like that....and it sorta worked....and then I bought an 870 forend wrench from Brownell's.....something every 870 owner should have...
