I can "Second" the Recommendation for "DWFAN" over at the "Big" S&W Forum...I've had TWO Sets of Grips he RESTORED--and that IS the correct word--A set of "Cokes" for a mid-50's N-Frame and a set of K-Frame Diamond Targets on a MINT Model 19 "No Dash"--Both sets looked LIKE NEW! HTH....Mike S.
Also, you can check out Swamprat over on the Colt Forum. He's restored several sets of Colt stocks for me, and they're absolutely outstanding. Here's a Python with a set of stocks he restored.
We on the Luger Forum have a fellow named Hugh Clark that does absolute miracles with Luger grips, recheckering, refinishing, and even repairing those "million dollar chips" behind the safety. I'm not sure if he does all pistol grips, but I am certain that he is a miracle worker on the ones that he does take in.
Let me know if you want contact info. Never hurts to ask.
Good Luck.
