looking for information on winchester rifle

    I am looking for any information and or history for a winchester model 92
    38 w.c.f. caliber. with oringinal saddle ring. serial number 897780.
    would appreciate any help in obtaining this information. rifle is in very good condition.

    Doug, from the information it appears you have an 1892 that was manufactured in 1918. To obtain more info, you really need to post the barrel length and whether it's around or octagonal barrel. Might also add in the condition of the gun. Garrett

    barrel length is 19 1/4 from tip to breech and the barrel is round. appreciate you for getting back to be. action all tight, the screwheads appear to never have been touched. in very good conditon.

    Ok, that info helps. You have an 1892 carbine model. The only thing you didn't mention is how the wood and bluing are percentage wise. It's hard to pin down an exact price on these old guns, but Cabelas has the same gun in very good condition overall for $8800. I think that would be at the upper end of the price spectrum.
