guys: I am looking for a part to my C&H shotshell reloading machine.

The part I am looking for is the black knob for the charge bar.

It is a Black Bakelite Mushroom shaped knob 2" in dia with a 3/8-24 male stud cast into it.

It screws into the front of the charge bar. They originally were made by Carr-Lane, but are no longer made.

    Here's pics

If you have one you'd part with Email me at the above address.

It looks like a little epoxy could fix the old one.

Check with McMaster Carr (www.mcmaster.com) for a replacement.

Judging by the 5C collets in the background you have a lathe. I would make a replacement out of aluminum or brass.

Jim: I actually have a whole machine shop which I work in everyday. If I can't find one I will make one. Mc,carr doesn't have it nor does anyone who makes knobs IE Reid, Carr-Lane, several others you've heard of. I was bummed when this machine fianlly showed up off ebay with the knob broken. that's the post office for ya.

I really want the original knob as it just has a better feel than Delrin which is what I would use to make it.

There are lots of C&H shotshell presses out there, I just found a 12ga 8 point crimping die for mine at Phillips Wholesale thursday in the junk box. Paid $2 for it. Hoping for a repeat on the knob.

    Thanks

    Randy

There has got to be an old C&H shotgun press out there that somebody doesn't want that I can pickup for parts.

Still looking for that elusive Black Knob.

    Please search your junk boxes.

Just make something that will do what you need. Take a bolt and make a handle. Turn the bolt to an L with a lock nut. Or take a bolt and a piece of wood or flat metal plate with a hole at one end and use a nut to lock it in place. That will buy you time till you find what you want.

How about a steering wheel knob get you one with a 8 ball on it.

Also in the link above they have some mushroom knobs with the same threads and is 2 1/32" in size but it isn't just like yours.

    Here is the photo below

The gearshift knob is fairly close, and I considered it. Carr-Lane originally made the knob, and they have a smaller version of it but don't make the 2" version any more.

I was just hoping someone had one laying around.
