Was moving a mirror for Snapshot and after placing it on the wall correctly, I took a good look at myself. I noticed when standing what I thought was tall and straight, I noticed my head cants slightly to my right. I had never noticed that before in my life and wondered to myself if it was related to shooting a large bore 12 guage shotgun with 1200+ fps shells. I shoot right handed and my head had a very slight cant in this direction as if I am naturally getting ready to look down the barrel. I have registered 48,800 singles and an untold number for practice since beginning shooting in 2001.

Now I'm wondering if the KS5 Special I shot for one year that kicked me 40 ways from Sunday and might have resculptured my body and scrambled my brain, as many times I had to have help in finding my vehicle and not remembering the drive home! Now I lay in bed wondering if all the impacts of recoil have had a chiropractic effect on altering my body which now is positioned perfectly for shooting whether I'm on the line or not.

While you are checking yourself to see if you are so affected; thank the person you see in the mirror for choosing the sport of trapshooting where there are so many friendly, helpful people who are more than willing to give free and unsolicited advice. I have been working tirelessly in this area myself with modest success and hopefully with counseling will improve in the future. Biff

    Biff-
Its called posture. Everyones head does this a little. Every time I have ever went to the chiropracter he would make me stand in front of a mirror, close my eyes and tilt my head up and down three times, then open my eyes to see which way my neck/head was tilting. Every single person could do this and see your true posture. Most will find what you did.

Biff: sure blame it on the gun, or the shells, or shooting. I just thought that was the direction you where going, like body english. After I seen you walking in circles I just thought you were goofy!! Don

Don, at times, I feel I am going around in circles or so it seems as I can't get much done! How's your shoulder? Are you going to be able to compete at the Ohio State shoot?

My apology to all the KS 5 owners who contacted me.....I guess I did spread it a little thick on that guns kicking ability. I only needed help one time finding my vehicle and realized I had ridden with someone else! That gun was the one that put me in Release Trigger City! I named mine "Muley" before I traded it to someone I didn't like!

John, I don't see a handsome devil when I look in the mirror, when I look in mine all I see is my Grandpa....All my hard living put his picture in my mirror!

Nick, I guess the ones who are that way musta shot a KS 5 at some point!! Biff

Sometimes we look in the mirror and just don't understand...

I don't understand TS.Comers. You offer free and unsolicited advice and they just ignore it. Maybe they are too busy working to solve National and world ecnomic problems, settling political injustices, trying to determine which is better 7 1/2 or 8's, or other mundane uninteresting topics.

I practice what I preach and have developed a harness of straps, ropes pulleys, and springs to wear each night in bed inorder to regain my correct posture as Nick put it. Snapshot is skeptical of my new invention as one of the springs came loose and almost knocked a hole in the ceiling above the bed! I made the whole harness out of organic cotten and non ferrous metal which should pass stingent FDA guidelines, that's important to non-meat eaters and will be a good selling point once I get it patented.

Other than trying to get a good night's sleep while wearing my harness, I have been using my psychic and telekinesis powers to win the Bob Shultz free shells Christmas giveaway. So far not much luck in that area! Maybe I should set up a public donations non profit corporation for the needy named "Save the Bob Shultz Family" naming myself CEO with a modest salary of 4 million dollars per annum. Maybe I can get the government to do a buyout so I can get a 10 million dollar($10,000,000.00)bonus, that way I can plan to attend more ATA registered Trapshoots for the 2009 year!

If none of this works, I want to be the first to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a New Year of seeing nothing but Smoke over your barrel! Biff

I enjoy electrical engineering much more than I do mechanical. I prefer an approach using sensors.

How about a device built into a hat that uses tilt sensors. Of course, that would (again) require that you use the mirror to make sure that you put your hat on straight.

Using this device, if your head tilts to one side or the other, I could make it so that it zaps you. You know, kind of like a dog shock collar. I guarantee you that your problem would be fixed within a week.

I was shocked to see a photo taken from behind. "Male pattern baldness"? I'm amazed and humbled. Now officially an old phart.

UPDATE: the harness rig I have been using has helped to get my head into a more upright position. A couple of friends noticed it and the difference in my appearance, one of then even said "Are you feeling OK, you look so different!" When I related to one of my friends that my head is now offset to the left by 3/32", he corrected me by saying that my head was now "cast on 3/32"! ,he is a very technical Trap shooter! Not sure if I'm gonna patent my harness rig or just sell detailed instruction on how to construct one! Cabin fever is really bad when you can't get outta the cabin! Biff

How long would Biffs relationship last when at night he starts to strap himself into his contraption and leaning against the wall is a pogo stick? I guess there are those out there that might just like it. LOL

Jim, that contraption really works, you ought to get one as I'm sure shooting in all that cold weather has gotten you all outta shape. Check in the mirror and just look at how your head is aligned with your body! Snapshot hides my harness many nights as my groaning get alittle loud, she says I'm getting straightened out because I've layed off shooting those big heavy loads! Biff

Mirrors work great. Try closing your eyes, mount the gun the way you think it should be, then open your eyes. You may be surprised at what you see. Like castoff/on is not alined with your vision, beads are not where you though they were, head is incorrectly mounted. You can find out a lot of issues by this procedure.

I'm glad to hear more than one person has noticed that they developed a "lean" after shooting for so many years. I'm trying to get my health insurance company to buy me an alfermann- it's obvious that Model 12's have contributed to my affliction. Merry Christmas, Dan

I liked the one about the old fart that wanted Viagra pills cut into 4 pieces, doctor told him that was not enough for firmness, and he said I just want enough to keep from peeing on my shoes. I don't know if it would correct head tilting though.

Don't apologize for the comment about your KS-5 kicking you! When I bought my KX-5 it beat me like a drum also. Oh, yes I have heard the comments that it didn't fit me correctly - horsepie.

PS - My .740 bore Kolar doesn't kick like the KX:)
