Just curious what you use as a load to play the fun "shoot off" games. I have heard more speed or more shot or more of something. Secret recipies... I think I have heard just about everything. I have only little Shoot off experiences in the parking lot but I have made it there this year 60% of the time and proud of that fact... BUT!!!! never seem to win with either speed or size of shot or more shot. I thought parking lot shot were more luck than anything but there are a few shooters that seem to win back long range frequently.
    Share your stories...secrect recipies...
    Thanks
    Rod

I like 21 grains of green dot with 1 1/8 oz of 7 1/2 shot in my AA hulls for the games we play. I consistently shot better with this load versus 18 grains of green dot or 19 grains of promo. Jackie B.

32gr. of 4756 with 1 3/8oz. 5's in Wally world hull, winchester red wad, 209A primer. Shoots about 1250fps, light recoil, smokes em at 70 yds. Great games in KY.

I tend to use about 28.5 grains of Longshot in a Remington hull. Add a Downrange Versalite wad and 1 1/8oz-1 3/16 oz of good hard 6's and you can break them from anywhere. This shell is just a little over 1300fps. It works the bird over without working the shooter over.

You'll hit more long targets by keeping your head in the gun!

Your shotgun is more important that the load that you use for "games"!

I usually use a load similar to Wonderboy's ... but also put it through one of my 3 inch Mod 12s.

You need a choke that is tight and is designed for looooong shots ... not saying a 3 inch Mod 12 is the only one that works ... but ... they do hold up under the heavy loads.

TM1s do a nice job, also ... but I wouldn't consider punishing any of the newer model Perazzis or K80s with 40 gr of Blue Dot!

If you want to try a factory load for annies - checkout the Nitro 27 Sporting Clay shell with 7.5 shot. I use them back to about the 45 yard line anything farther than that I use 33 grains of Winchester 540 (Hodgdon HS-6) ounce and a quarter of number 6s in Winchester or Rem STS hull, Winchester primer, and Winchester wad - WAA12F114. That is one bird crunching load.

Herco or 800X.... These 2 powders will hold their own against ANY powder used for long range games..... Easy on the shoulder, too..... Dan Thome (Trap2)

I use 34.5 to 35.0 grs Longshot 1 1/4 oz mag 6s 9800psi in an Activ Hull w/ windjammer wad, Rio primer The Activ Hull makes identity easy.

In a AA case 35.4 grs Longshot 1 1/8th oz #6s Windjammer wad Rio primer 10,200psi 1530fps Feels like a new AA SuperHdcp shell.

These are my 2 favorites for long, long, range shots 45 yards and beyond.

Up to 45 yards I use 28 Grs 800-X 1 3/16s #6s Windjammer wad Rio Primer in an
    Blue Rio Hull 1300 Fps

Line buddy shoot back-up shell same as above only 26 Grs 800-X 1275 fps
    both loads 9000psi or less.

I used Herco for years, then switched to 800X then Blue Dot then Longshot. These all worked well but the recoil is another issue. I am now using 26.5 grs 7625 with a Fed 12S4 wad ( or uniwad) and 1 1/4 oz 7.5 and fed 209 primerin an Active hull( or fed paper). Recoil is tolerable all day long. If we go way way back I use the same load with 4's

Winchester High Speed 3" turkey 5's in a Mx2000. Kicks some, but when the money is on the line, you can stand a few. Perrazis have 3" chambers. Yes, I am from Kentucky. I shoot 1 1/4 oz 6's at 1400 for a backup on the 27 yard line. Speed kills, I read that somewhere once.

Unique, 4756, and blue dot. These are the only powders I used for a very successful pot shooting career.

Holy Sh#%! 40 grains of Blue dot with 1 1/4 oz. will put you over 12000 PSI. Thats dangerous! Longshot powder is your best choice for long range shooting.
It is really dirty powder though being slow burning.
