If you put 16 20 dollar bills with 33 5's and 9 1's in a green bag, what is the color of the bag?

Respectfully, Dr. T -- if you seriously needed to ask this question you really should not be reloading ammunition. Be safe yourself and protect those shooting along side you -- use factory loads. They are safer and require no arithmetic skills or technical ability.

    533 3/4 oz loads/25# $0.0469/load based on $1.00/pound

    457 7/8 oz loads/25# $0.0547/load based on $1.00/pound

    400 1 oz loads/25# $0.0625/load based on $1.00/pound

    376 1 1/16 oz loads/25# $0.0665/load based on $1.00/pound

    355 1 1/8 oz loads/25# $0.0704/load based on $1.00/pound

    320 1 1/4 oz loads/25# $0.0781/load based on $1.00/pound

All but the 1 oz and 1 1/4 oz will have a little shot left over from these numbers for spillage. All costs per load have been rounded up or down for three significant figures.

Since most presses load shot by volume, your actual results may vary, depending on the density of the shot and a few other variables. You'd have to weigh the drops to figure it out closer for the shot and press/bushings/bar you are using.

    Costs per primer @ $150.00/5000 = $0.03 @ $120.00/5000 = $0.024 @ $100.00/5000 = $0.02

    Wads @ $120.00/5000 = $0.024 @ $100.00/5000 = $0.02 @ $80.00/5000 = 0.016 @ $60.00/5000 = $0.012

You usually get about 500 wads if it's a bag of 500. You'll get about 250 wads if the bags are 250 count. You may have a couple more or less. :)

I agree with none of the above answers. They ignore the 2-6 shot that never pour out of the bag. Also, shot has a way of sneaking out of the hopper onto the reloading table. If you don't believe this, stop and look around the area you use to reload shells. Also, the Law of "cocked wads and reloader smashed shells" is total ignored with a direct conversion of 25 pounds of shot into 1 oz shells. Additionally, I have seen shells fall onto the floor and then disappear into black matter.

I must not be doing something right. I use a pound of Longshot, a bag of shot then stuff the one sock I have left in between for a wad.. so far no blown guns tho they do make a little more noise than those factory shells.

Since the price of shot has been so high, I've been telling the wife that I get about half a season out of a bag or so..... :) Dan
