Link above provides reading of a bill proposed to caculate and require a "living wage"

There are a bunch of other bills involving spending, including raising the debt ceiling.

You should make a daily visit to this web site, if you are comcerned about gun laws and spending.

Given the cast of characters that proposed it, I'm not surprised. Curiously, one would surmise that most of their constituents are in tax dollar subsidized housing, so what is their motive behind raising minimum wage high enough for a couple working it to make above the national housing wage?

The motive is clear - raise the required minimum wage high enough so that employers will not pay it for low-skilled workers. That puts the workers on welfare, increasing the dependency on big government. Tell those new welfare folks that their problems are caused by the evil rich and blood-sucking big businesses whose taxes need to be increased to pay for their benefits. The end result - you've increased your socialist constituency and your reach of government.
