Had 2 FTF today with a 1960 era M12 Trap. Both fired the second time.

It would appear that if the bolt is not held high enough in the receiver (by whatever holds it there) the pin interupter (whatever its called) prevents a solid hit.

Any thoughts on what is going on?

I did clean it but dont think it was dirt.

    regards

Shouldn't be much of a problem to fix....IF... you take it to a gunsmith that is good at Mod 12s.

And with a broken firing pin, a M-12 will work much of the time but not every time.

I had that problem a while back. Checked firing pin , headspace etc. It ended up up being primers I was using.I was using Fiochi 616 and some were seating a little deeper in win. Hulls. Switched back to win. primers and problem solved.

I would check the firing pin and the Head space ring because if the head space ring is cracked, loose, or broken it can cause the same kind if problem by letting the shell go to far into the chamber if not seated right which would cause light hits by the firing pin ... Have a good gunsmith take a peek at it and let them fix it right ... I have both problems with a Model 12 at one time or another and its not a problem to get it fixed ... WPT ... (YAC) ...
