Lewis payouts

    How or what is the formula for figuring the payouts for the Lewis option??

    Tony, there are several ways to explain how the lewis purse is figured. I'll give you a simple example. If you have 30 shooters that play the lewis and your club is paying 3 places-one money they would make a list of all the scores of the shooters that played the purse. The top shooter(high gun) would win the top money and they would count down ten scores and the shooters that shot that score would get the second place money. Then they would count down ten more scores and the shooters that shot that score would get the bottom or last place money. When clubs set the lewis up to pay four places and three monies then it gets more complicated. They would be dividing the purse by 12 scores and some of the shooters would be lucky to get their entry money back. Hope this helps. There are some books on the market that explain options.

    P.S. Most clubs have gone to keeping scores on their computers and the score keeping programs do all the computing on the options for you. Lot better than the old days.
