    Leo Harrison Clinic/My Experience

I took a clinic from Leo a couple of weeks ago at Silver Dollar. It was excellent.

Lew could very quickly spot mistakes. My first mistake he spotted was when shooting handicap, I quickly moved my barrel toward the target but as I got neat the target, my barrel movement speed decreased instead of remaining constant or even increasing. Leo gave me a couple of suggestions on how to correct the problem and quickly added that each shooter has to figure out what works for him, but recognizing the problem is the first step.

Leo also discovered a couple of other problems I needed to work on (shoulders more level, slow down just a little bit between gun mount and calling for the bird). Leo emphasized that many problems are caused by not clearly focusing on the bird. He had us working on the cause of these minor problems (seeing the bird) rather than the actual problem.

I thought the class was great. I took notes and now have a short list of things to work on written on paper that is kept in my gun case.

I have taken several clinics from several excellent teachers. I have learned something from each of them.

Good to hear, Mr. Ireland and reinforces everything I have heard about Leo Harrison's clinics. I'm planning on attending a Leo clinic in Downers Grove, Illinois in May to help me with doubles. I know I'll have a good time.

What, he didn't take a video of you lifting your head up off the stock??!!?? You would probably be his first "student" that didn't do that. LOL. You also failed to compliment his most gracious assitant.

Pat, thanks for the kind words. We were so glad to see you win a trophy at the Southern Grand just hours after taking the class.
Tomk2, this was a "short course", mainly doubles, so we didn't video tape and my help wasn't really needed, so I took the day off. But thanks for thinking of me....maybe I could get a raise if more shooters told Leo how important I was to the class?

All our students are "extra-ordinary" in their own way. We really do enjoy working with shooters from all over the country and from all walks of life.

Just tell me where to call and what to say to Leo to explain just how important you are in the picture. I understand that he is "down under" for awhile, but I'll call him when you get back.

Oh and if you want to go tropical go to Barbados. Not as busy as some of the other islands, beautiful beaches, good food, the whole works. RLG

Jim, I made as much money at the casino that day as Leo did at the gun club...and was alot more comfortable.
RG, I'm not sure what you mean by "going tropical" but I will assume you are talking about visiting an island?
