how did you make a decision on your length of pull. how close is your thumb to your nose?

With your normal mount, one inch or closer is a good place to start. Some shooters like a quarter inch between the thumb and nose. One distance will not be best for everyone.

here are the rules of thumb ...
for shotguns hold the gun with you are help out, the LOP should be equal
to crease in your forearm at the elbow

for rifles it varies, based on type of rifle shooting and scoped or not
eye relieve etc, but usually about 1 inch less than on a rifle

also, try shooting a 'box stock gun' with an LOP that that's right for you ...
find the right load and I think you'll be happy and not lose you shirt when you go to sell some modified version of a nice gun that only you can shoot

IMHO ... I've seen many great shooters who would cringe at what shooters do
to their guns today .. but maybe they are/were just better shooters with
much more natural ability then we have today

    sad ...

you don't see many kid's with 22's coming around to shoot trap and break 20+
like you did in the late 50's and early 60's ... now thats a challenge !

like -- Al Topperwein ... ( I hope I spelled it right, as I;m sure some numb-nut will correct me )

    have a nice weekend

KISS - Keep it Stock Stupid !
Porting = 50% reduction in value and 0% reduction in value
stocks can be swapped, but what pay for the adjustable comb, buttplate, recoil garbage ... waste of hard earned money and you lose money in the long run

get as close to your thumb without hitting your nose on hard lefts and rights.
