I have a Lefever double barrel 12 gauge 30" from my father. I noticed some threads regarding serial numbers and wanted to know when it was made? I believe the serial number is on the inside of the forearm stock? It is 289458. Is this gun have any collector value? I know that Lefever was bought by Ithaca Arms Co. in 1922 in Syracuse and made these guns from 1922 to 1947. Any other information would be appreciated. I also have a Browning Semi Auto 5 shot 12 ga.

I belive that in order for to any collector value it would have to be new in the box. They are not worth a whole lot. I have a 16Ga I got one from my Dad, which he said he paid $8.00 for in 1928. Shot it a little back when I was a kid, now it just sits in the safe. No real value, but not for sale.
