First many thanks to 'Jolly Trap Shooter' for starting the above link. The name says it all.

I live in PA - near Philadelphia, through this site I found a person in north-east PA who would happily turn my wheel weights into shot.

I was given the option of a 40/60 split if HE cleaned and melted the weights, or a 50/50 if I did it.

'Mike K' is a total gentleman and I just want to publicly say thanks to him for helping me along in this project. I now know how to sort, melt, flux, and cast the weights into ingots he can quickly turn into shot (nice stuff too - 7 1/2).

I get the weights for free and my son helps with the sorting (next is to get him near the crucible to help with the melting & fluxing) so it is a family activity.

If you have access to weights, or own a shot maker and are willing to help others by making shot for a percent of the proceeds I strongly urge you to check out the Lead Trading Post.

Mike and I have started a 'side project' trying to see if we can turn the zinc weights into OK fishing sinkers (I lent him a dedicated crucible and some sinker molds for this project). Mike likes to fish...

I went to the above link and went to the forum for each state. All there was is ads for viagra and other junk like that. Nothing about lead

    Glenn,

    You are right.

Go further down the list (New Jersey, etc.) - there are few if any posts for these states but they relate to lead.

Guess we need to ask JollyTrapShooter to delete the BS posts.

Sorry about that...I hope I've fixed that problem of spammers. It's been happening for a while now and I'd just go and delete all of them every couple of weeks. But I'm pretty sure I figured out how it was happening. There is a setting that makes people go and check their email before they can fully register and that was not on. So these things would put in random emails and be able to join the forum. I'll have to spend a couple of hours still to get rid of all of the false user names, but it should be better now. Thanks, Josh.
