The price of lead just fell to 99 cents a pound. That is about a 20 percent drop from its recent high. HMB

Will not impact our shooting much unless the price stays down for several months.

Shooting is going to be expensive.

Of course lead took a drop ... and will probably drop a lot more!

    Why?

Because I just bought a big supply of shot!

Gentlemen, you are looking at the spot price for lead. Smelters are buying lead for between 50 cents and 70 cents per pound. Right now it is in the middle to low end of that range.

I just bought a 88pound bucket of wheel weights yesterday from the scrap yard for .50 a pound. Starting to gather it up to make my own shot. I said to the owner "maybe I should wait til he got more price may be lower" He replied "Sorry Lewis, doesnt look good for it going down much for a while"

Demand must be up in China

It's the Christmas season and the Chinese are buying lead up to use in paint for the toys they sell to stupid Americans.

Someone has to be making money on lead...otherwise they wouldn't be in business anymore. That's generally the purpose of business, to make money?

It is the dollar; it strengthened today and all comodities went down. Demand-supply is not driving the price. The supply of lead is up and has been for a year. Check it here: http://www.kitcometals.com/charts/lead_historical.html

On fox business last week said that China produces 87% of all the rare earth metals in the world. The reason is the exploited labor.
In this country and the UK the speculators buy it up and hold onto it to drive the price up. Most of the battiers are going to be made from lithuium where lead is not needed.
