A couple weeks ago lead was hitting around 1.20 lb. on the commodity market.

Friday it was about 1.04(the same price it was when shot was 22.00 a bag), and still falling.

With oil falling too, it's about time for a bag of shot to get cheaper.

Do you think it will happen, or will we continue to get screwed?

The producer price was $1.35 on Friday. That is what newly produced lead is selling for. The producer price was $1.67 back in early April.

If the producer price stays around $1.30 then shot should come down to $32 per bag. I do not think we will see shot below $30 unless we have another recession.

Ross is right. I wasn't aware that the last recession was over either.

I guess I should have said another financial crisis. In January 2009 the producer price came down to 75 cents a pound and shot was $22 per bag. The price of lead has done nothing but go up from there. I cannot recall what gas was selling for in January 2009 but I would guess it was under $2.50 per gallon. I suppose $30 shot will happen when we get back to $3.00 gas???

You all have to remember that the prices the ultimate consumer pays for things is driven by the sellers fear of what may happen tomorrow. Therefore if the wholesale price of gas, lead, bread etc. goes down the seller is scared and he raises his price. If the wholesale price of stuff goes up the seller is scared and again he raises his price. Prices have a firm floor and no ceiling. Skys the limit! The only way around this is to wait out the sellers until they either mark their merchandise down to a reasonable level or they just go out of business. As a consumer you can't give in, you gotta break em!

Like everything else, when people stop buying it ,the price will go down. It wont go down just because it costs less to make. Thats where the profit is.

There is a lot of high dollar shot in the pipe line so don't expect to see any reduction in price anytime soon.

Best plan is to refuse to buy shot at current prices.
Shot is not a necessity like gas or food.

    my .03 cents.

Santa Rosa lead stop selling shot about 8 months ago. So the theory that if you hold out they'll have to drop the price. Sometimes they just go outta business. Guns always go up in price, but you still buy them. And when you don't, the go outta business. You can just 'wait' yourself right out of trap shooting. Jim

The problem with lead shot is the seller will have to go through his $40.00 bags before he comes down to his new cheaper shot. That will take time. When lead was at 45 cents we had bags of shot at $10 to $12 a bag.

I agree with Lots of 24’s and Hill Topper above. Stop buying shot and the price will go down.

    Shut up and start shooting!

Who frikin cares how much more it may cost.

If ya like to shoot, just shoot.

If ya want to save money there is a sight for "EXTREME COUPONING"

Tired of you talkin about what lead cost last year or in 1977.

Ya gripe about the cost of lead but will spend 600 bucks or so on a trigger.

or chokes, gloves, a reloader- although you have a couple already...

    SHUT UP AND SHOOT

I said it and it is about time somebody did.
