I'm down to 48 bags so I asked my local gun shop about buying some. At $32.99 a bag, I thought I might take my chances on it going down again before I buy.

They are planning on building nuclear reactors for the utility companies. I think the price of lead will not be coming down any time soon. HMB

Guy, I'm told that Lawrence shot had a price increase not long ago that will amount to $4.00 a bag at the retail level when that material starts to be shipped.

I'm spoiled - I bought 100 bags at $14.75 a bag when shot started to go up a few years ago. I was able to dodge the days of fifty bucks a bag and I'm hoping it gets back under thirty bucks a bag like it was a few months ago before I have to buy any.

<I>"Lead can also be used as a coolant."</I>

It can be but it isn't. Except in a few Russian reactors virtually every operating reactor is a light water reactor.

Too many disadvantages to lead-bismuth and sodium cooling.

Here in Houston, we're paying $36.99 a bag at Carter's Country. That price does not include Vasoline either.

Where would I go if I wanted to buy $20,000 worth of shot? Who and where are the manufacturers? Anyone know the max weight capacity for a semi?

Don said - "$30 at Dawson if you buy a ton. $30.50 otherwise".

Wow, a whole $0.50 or $0.02 per lb break when you order 2000 lbs or more.

Capvan, there is a place in Birmingham that sells shot wholesale and is a provider for a couple companies (Lawrence being one of them) but don't have the name in front of me right now.

    The max weight is 80,000
    most empty semi's around 29,000 to 30,000
Most will haul around 50,000 lbs. Day cabs add a couple thousand lbs

capvan, Mayco Industries (Lawrence Brand) will sell you a semi-load if you talk to the right person. Just send them an email and tell them that you want to purchase 40,000 pounds. I did that about a year ago and received a phone call from their VP of sales about an hour later.

I don't know your physical location, but I would check out connies components on shot. If their current flyer is accurate, you could save a lot.

Then there is Northwest shot around Ashland, OR. As I recall you can wheel/deal with that supplier depending on time of the month and the mood of the guy on the fork lift.

My preference is West Coast, but I can't say shot quality has really been a factor in my misses. Pretty much where the end of my gun was pointing.
