Lead Pipes

    How hard are lead pipes (what % antimony)? Should they be mixed before making them into shot? Thanks, jamie

    I dont think they have any antimony in them ????

    Wheel weights are the best . I beleive they have 6 or 7 % antimony ?

    I think the lead is fairly pure. Its softer than at a joint.

    The lead pipe I used several years ago was soft according to the rather imprecise hardness tester I used at that time (a hammer mounted on a hinge and a scrap piece of 1 X 10 wood for a height gage).

    I mixed about 5 pounds of lead pipe into 20 pounds of wheel weights. I did not measure these weights with more than a guess.
