I am in the process of opening a sporting clay range and we are getting some resistance from the local tree huggers. Does anyone have information that might help with issues of lead contamination, etc. I am especially interested in information about a study concerning lead encasing itself after going in the ground.

There is a lot of information on the NSSF.org site and google "EPA shooting ranges".

The reality is that absent acidic soils, lead does not migrate or deteriorate significantly. However, environmentalists never deal in reality.

Also, most lead enviromental claims against gun ranges are really noise complaints. Are these tree huggers your neigbors?
