Of course Charlie is right. The NRA just makes this stuff up to get donations. Really.

Here it is, right from truthseeker's link to the NRA -

Strange as it may seem, the California Fish and Game Commission is denying that a state-wide ban is being considered.

In fact, the exact statement is "Contrary to stories circulating the Internet, the Fish and Game Commission is NOT considering a Statewide ban of lead ammunition in California." They have also said, "Contrary to action alerts sent by Nation Riffle Association [sic] and California Riffle and Pistol Association, [sic] the Fish and Game Commission is NOT considering a Statewide ban of lead ammunition in California."

Does truthseeker ever bother to read what he posts?

I'm a Calif hunter ed instructor. The possibility of a state-wide lead ban is real...believe it. There are forces at work in CA that want it and are working hard to obtain it.

This one is pretty damn real for CA.

California Anti-Gun Bills Advancing in Sacramento
Please Contact Your State Legislators Today!

On June 3, the Assembly passed Assembly Bill 962 by a 42-31 vote. AB962 now heads to the Senate where it has been assigned to the Senate Public Safety Committee. Also on June 3, Senate Bill 585 passed the Senate by a vote of 21-18. It now moves to the Assembly where it will be considered by the Assembly Public Safety Committee. No hearing dates have been scheduled for either bill.

Sponsored by Assembly Member Kevin De Leon (D-45), AB962 would make it a crime to privately transfer more than 50 rounds of ammunition per month, even between family and friends, unless you are registered as a “handgun ammunition vendor” in the Department of Justice’s database. Ammunition retailers would have to be licensed and store ammunition in such a manner that it would be inaccessible to purchasers. The bill would also require purchasers submit to fingerprinting, which would be submitted to the Department of Justice. Lastly, mail order ammunition sales would be prohibited.

SB585, introduced by State Senator Mark Leno (D-3), would prohibit the sale of firearms and ammunition on the property or inside the buildings that comprise the Cow Palace . In short, SB585 is a stepping-stone to banning gun shows on all publicly-owned property in California .

It is imperative that you stand-up and respectfully make your voices heard! Please contact the members of the Senate Public Safety Committee and urge them to oppose AB962. Also, please contact the members of the Assembly Committee on Public Safety and insist that they defeat SB585. Contact information can be found below.

The California Fish and Game Commission SAID SO. That is good enough for me. The fact that they are rife with left wing environmentalists and just successfully rammed a partial state lead bullet ban down our throats should in no way be accepted as evidence that they might attemp a total coup including a lead shot ban.

So CharlieP you're saying we should take the word of a government agency that believes condors are dropping dead because of deer hunters over the NRA?<br>

I read in this months Guns and Ammo about the ban on using lead ammunition in Comiformia was to save condors from ingesting lead while eating gut piles.

After talking to my many contacts in Kalifornia, being a former hunting guide in Kalifornia, moved out of that cesspool in 91, I am completly confident kalifornia will eventually pass a no lead reform before too much time passes.

Guys get a clue----- they already know lead is our achilles heel. Not a matter of if------- but when. Do not forget who you are dealing with--- other than the eastern sea board it is the most liberal state in the union.

The biggest question is whether the shooting sports can survive the implementation of steel ahot or some other alternative.

I'm not suggesting I like it, NO, just saying the obvious. Dont say I didn't tell you! Phil in Colorado

It seems to me that their time would be more well spent trying to find a way to raise the $24,000,000,000 they spent over and above revenue.

clubs in my area have been forced to steel shot, it will continue to spread.
I have been trying to find a good resource of steel shot. Steel shot makers need to step up a little.

I heard many say. They wont ban lead shot.....water fowl ban on use of lead shot.

Banning lead is a real threat! But it is like any other government implemented ban, its not based on REAL science or fact! You have to go back to the beganing of the ban to discover its falsehood!

Its here to stay, sad to say, ITs to hard to educate out stupidity!

I am also a Hunter ED instructor and 4-H shooting instructor, we are mandated to teach the evils of the use AND handling of lead. In order to keep our certifacation.

What we say after class and on the street is a different story!

I read somewhere that the facts of the California lead bullet ban had nothing to do with condors eating lead from gut piles, that in fact condors are so stupid they eat all kinds of stuff that isn't even food, some of which contains lead. However the REAL reason for the Leftist condor lovers screaming about banning lead bullets had nothing to do with condors ingesting them, but did have to do with the condor people completely failing at their promise to restore the condors. Their failure was about to result in their program being de-funded, and they deperately neede to find a scapegoat for their failures so they could continue to justify their funding. In a brilliant coup they killed two birds with one stone, getting their funding restored and hurting hunters and shooters at the same time. I don't remember where I read this but I remember the source was one I trusted.

This is SERIOUS stuff folks. If this gets passed, you can bet getting lead shotshells in the state of CA will become increasingly difficult.
    Read This:
    http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/showthread.php?t=193469

And for those folks who think they can just reload their own, the goat humping liberal nazis also want to ban the use of lead wheel weights.

Why can't left-wing commies live and let live. Why do they feel compelled to run everone else's life. I guess it is in their communist nature. They should be more worried about paying for their multi-billion dollar deficit caused by their run-away socialism. I hate liberals.

For you doubters, it will come. We already have steel only ranges. We already have some talking about banning lead fishing weights and tire weights. We already have lead banned for waterfowling and on many state hunting lands for all shotgunning. Why are so many shooters in denial. I guess it is the union voters that vote for Democrats and don't want to admit the mistake they have made.

More Chicken Little "The Sky is Falling" nonsense.

Remember the "lead will be $5 because the democrats want it" nonsense of two years ago?

    Same deal.

    Fear and smear. LOL!
