    Hello:
Sunday night my wife and I flew out to Las Vegas. Sorry to say the weather is not much better than back home today. It's in the mid 40's today, as it should get warmer later in the week. We are staying with friends and earlier today I was at the Venetian and it's a nice beautiful place. Only problem is, I could not win a dime there. Later tonight, I will try my luck at some of the older smaller establishments. Anyone know if the "Slots of fun" is still around, or did they tear that place down too? I haven't been here in awhile and Las Vegas doesn't look like the same place to me.

Any recommendations on where to gamble and eat while I am here?

We have more fun and better "luck" downtown, in Old Vegas.

Steve, I went to the Slots of Fun back in 72 or 73 when I got back from a TDY in Nam had a pocket full of money, at one time my buddies told me I was up about 8-10,000, I was drinking way too much of their free booze though, I didn't remember much of it

But I did leave broke, and I think I had fun LOL

Damn that was a long time ago

When I got back to the states when I was in the service I had to go help out at an Air force base in Utah. A few of us on the weekend drove to Las Vegas and I remember I just got paid and I had $139.00 on me. We were all playing Blackjack and I was the only one winning. At one point, I was up $600.00 at the Slots of fun. Then they changed dealers and I lost most of my winnings. I took my buddies out to eat and we had a good time gambling there. I am going to ask around tonight if it's still in existence. This place does not even look like I remember it???

MGM for table games only. Craps usually one table at 5 bucks till it fills up then goes to 20. Best time is around noon till 5 to get on the 5 buck bets. Once you start at 5 you can play all night for 5. Played craps at Hooters, NY NY and Belagio just seems the dice do not roll as good as they do at MGM. Tom

I agree with Russ-in-Pa, Fitzgerald's and several others still have $3.00 table games with fewer crowds. Odd's tend to run a little better too.

If you can, get out to one of the STATION casinos. They are on the outskirts of central Vegas and cater more to the local clientele.

Not gambling or eating, but Friday, Saturday and Sunday is the sporting arms and antique show at the Riviera.

Awhile ago The Gold Coast had the best Prime Rib it was in the Cortez Room. For buffets the stations were always good.

Go to the Fiesta in North Las Vegas. One of the best casinos for video poker"royal flush capital of the world". Also a good place for food. For the best gaming always go where the locals go. North las Vegas and Boulder Hwy.

Rio does have a great buffet, but the one at the Bellagio is better and cheaper. Old Vegas is the place to gamble. I go out in February for the WAF Archery shoot and the Riviera. Next year it is at the South Point Casino. I may not make it this year, but will be there again next for sure. weather is hit or miss sometimes. Seen rain and cold, was about 3 weeks late last year for the snow, and seen it in the 70's. Great town!

Thanks to everyone for the info. Late last night I received a phone call that my aunt passed away. Will most likely cut our trip short.
