All I know is when you attend the KY State Shoot the grounds are litered with red wads. The funny part is none of them are DR Versalites. Even funnier is go to the shell house and ask for 1 oz shells.

Three years ago at the Grand when you could shoot reloads for Handicap, I was shooting with a real nice man from Kentucky and he was talking about making his own shot. Another guy ask him about how round it was so he took one of his extra shells out of his shell vest pocket and cut it open and poured it out in his hand. It was some really fine looking shot but I commented on how large the pellets looked and also that there appeared to be quite a lot of shot in that one shell. He looked at it and kind of laughed and said it must have been one of his race loads that he had in his pocket because the pellets did look a little large to him also.

He was a very nice guy and a pleasure to shoot with and no he did not run a 100 from the 20 yard line (he was on about the 25 or 26).

Here is the trophy count for the 2011 Preliminary Week trophies.

This includes all the special trophies (National Team Race, HOA, etc), too.

    frostyman,

The last I heard, you could still shoot reloads at Grand during the 'caps events. You just couldn't take part in the in any of the earings that the Martin's put up money for. Therefore most were shooting factory shells in case they hit a lick.

    bluedotman,

Just a little tongue in cheek humor.

Using new shells for all handicap events at the Grand was not optional.

They don't have short yardage shooters, the 21 is considered long yardage there. AJ

New shells were manditory in all of the hnndicap events even if you did not play the Martin money.

    Brandon:

Your last post may have been intended as humor but I would direct your attention to the Parliament Coach Handicap - event #2 of Preliminary week. Any Illinois shooter in that event posting a score of 99 would be an excellent place to start.

I just looked at the grand program online and saw where new shells were mandatory for all caps events (I didn't attend). I wasn't aware of this change. Thanks for pointing this out.
