I started to remove the front bead on my K-80 Trap Special and found that it is attached by a screw from inside the rib and the bead is threaded. This is unlike other shotguns where the bead threads into the rib. Has anyone changed the front bead on their K-80 TS?

    Paul,

I just changed the beads on both barrels of my TS. You are right in that they do have a screw form underneath and the only way to get it out is to remove the rib. Once this is done you will notice that the rib is in fact threaded and the over the counter beads (Hi Viz in my case) will thread into the rib. My O/U rib the threads were messed up and had to have a friend retap the hole. Single barrel rib no problem at all. I used a caliper to measure the height on the rib before removing so that I could get it to the same setting. Came out great and not as hard as I thought when I first saw the screw. If you have any specific questions, you can contact me at the above email.

I have never liked the K-80 beads which are quite larger than Perazzi or Seitz front beads. Does anyone make a smaller bead that matches the threads on the K-80?

I had Chris Vendel change my beads at the Grand to his smaller beads, love them. I was looking at Pat McCarthy's K-80 Trap Special and noticed that he had changed his beads to Chris's smaller beads and he had Chris change mine as they have the office next to Dawson's at Sparta.

I just can not get it why people change to the Hi-viz beads. I believe that you can't hit the nail when you are looking at the hammer.

Tom's key word is "BLUE". Don't use Red. Blue is forgiving if yo have to take it off for some reason and Red is not.
