Joined ATA in March 2010. I have shot about 1500 registered targets so far. Went to KTA yesterday shot in a 200 target singles event. Shot a 99 in the first 100. I was really excited! Wind was blowing about 30-40 mph right in your face. Came back for the second 100 and just didn't miss! I usually find a way to screw up a good run! Closest score was a 194. Shot in the handicap and shot a 94. I am on the 22 yd line. Had second high score (a 14 yr old girl shot a 95). Not bragging, just pumped at finally doing it!!

I shot for about 6 months before going to first ATA event. Scores fell off during competition. It's hard to replicate the self imposed pressure of competing against and shooting with people that you don't know. I'm starting to get comfortable with it, but the best way to get better is jump in and start going to competitions, big or small. Competing under pressure will make or break you. It usually broke me!! But after each event I'm a little more comfortable at the next one.

Good job. Your difficulties are over and you, have this sport licked now. You will never struggle again!

...but seriously, congratulations on a special achievement. Kinda like graduating from High School. You still have a lot of work in front of you, but this day is special and will never be repeated.

Congrats on your first. I hope you went out and had your favorite meal and got your hat shot to pieces as well. If you can, write down the date, club, shoot name on the bill so you will have a trophy to look at for years to come. May you have many more. Broke=em all. Jeff
